You know you’ve got the awesome effects, the big chase scenes, maybe you’re even going to get spooked; you’re going to want to grab the person next to you and you’re most definitely going to gasp or even scream! In no particular order, below is a list of five monster movies from the past ten years that are a must watch!

Giant monsters? Check! Giant robots? Check! Idris Elba? CHECK!

A special weapon devised by humans, gigantic robots called Jaegers have been built. They have the strength to take on the Kaiju, but can only be controlled by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. Do you mean giant robot soulmates? Yes! We mean giant robot soulmates.

IT (15) – Released 2017

Stephen King’s famous horror novel is brought to life in this contemporary and spine-chilling retelling. Set in the summer of 1989, a small American town called Derry is whipped up into a frenzy hysteria and panic as local kids are disappearing, one after another. The kids are being “taken” by a shape shifting monster that disguises itself as a (scary looking) clown. That’s right. The original scary clown.

A group of young misfits band together at a place called “The Barrens” – having all encountered the clown, and survived horrifying and strange experiences, they are determined to defeat It once and for all. This film is not for the faint hearted but it’s a monster classic not to be missed!
