You just can’t beat London’s drive in cinema! Ideal for family days out and date nights alike, and with a wide range of movies to choose from, from rom-coms to cosy Christmas classics, to non-stop thrillers, there really is something for everyone!

Better yet, as a fully contact-free venue The Drive In is allowed to remain open under all tiers, meaning you can book with confidence!

With this in mind, here are some top tips to help you enjoy the best London drive in theatre experience possible.

Choose your movie in advance

Think about who you’re going with and find a movie that’s suitable. If you’re taking the kids, for example, it’s a good idea to check the movie ratings, which are clearly listed for every drive in movie on our website. What’s more, if you like musicals and really want to see Grease, Dirty Dancing or one of the many other musical movies, why not invite someone from your social ‘bubble’ who loves the same type of toe-tapping film? That way you’ll be able to dance along and sing your hearts out together in your car!

Make sure you’re comfortable

The movies can range from just over an hour to up to 3 hours(!) depending on which film you pick, so it’s important to make sure you’re comfortable in your own car! We recommend wearing your comfiest clothes, and even if you’re on a date night you can still dress to impress by combining soft jeans with a nice jumper or a dress with leggings. ;) As winter is approaching it’s a good idea to pile the car up with lots of cosy blankets and pillows which will keep you warm and snuggly at any time of the day or night.

To make sure you’re as comfortable as possible, it’s also important not to crowd the car you’re in. When visiting The Drive In, every person should have their own seat and remember, everyone in your group should be part of your social bubble, in line with the current government guidelines.

Tuck into yummy snacks

What would a drive in theatre be without a host of yummy snacks? Either bring your own, or order from The Drive In menu where you’ll find a host of classic cinema treats including popcorn, pretzels, crisps, ice cream, pick ‘n’ mix and more. Fancy something a bit more substantial? Then order up a fully-loaded hot dog or cheeseburger with fries! Or, delving into one of the delicious vegetarian and vegan options available.

There’s also a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available to quench your thirst after a tasty meal or a range of salty snacks.

Turn the volume up

The movie sound will be played through your car’s FM radio as you watch it on our state-of-the-art screen. So, to get that full cinema experience, turn the volume of your stereo up high! If you’d prefer not to use your car radio, you can always bring a portable FM radio with you. We also have portable FM radios for purchase (£15) or for hire (£3) on our website, if you didn’t bring your own. You can order them here! Whether you want to sing along to your favourite soundtrack or soak up the spooky atmosphere of a horror movie, sound quality is important.
